Swamimalai hills, Yelagiri

A small hike amidst thick vegetation to the top of the hill. Yelagiri is one of the hill stations in Tamilnadu. It is just a couple of hours drive from Bengaluru.

We started early to reach the town and was shocked to see no hotel available at 8 in the morning. We had to wait for sometime to get our breakfast and then start the trek. Tamilnadu tourism department is promoting this trek and so you will find name boards leading to this place. The name board has the name as “Mangalam Truckking point”. The start point has enough place to park a few cars. One can park there vehicle there and start with the trek.

I came to know of this place from a friend through his video. From the video, I was expecting an easy trek. But probably because we started late, or because of the climate that day, we started sweating a lot sooner in the trek. The whole trail has thick green vegetation covered in both sides with huge trees. The trail also has steps till the peak.

The peak has a small temple and a view point from which you can see the Yelagiri town.
